Virtues are necessary for the full realization of the concept of responsibility: Temperance for pondered and balanced behavior; Prudence and Intellect to anticipate consequences; Wisdom and Fortitude to direct decisions and actions according to Justice and Charity.
Commandments and principles are, therefore, tools rather than ends in themselves, aimed at the full demonstration of responsibility and the realization of true personal freedom in the fulfillment of every good.
