1.5. Distinction between Freedom and Free Will
It is fundamental to recognize the ontological distinction between the encoded function of Artificial Intelligence and analog human faculties in terms of freedom and free will.
AI operates according to deterministic or probabilistic logic and, by its very nature, cannot exercise free will, nor possess a moral conscience in the human sense. Rather, its function is encoded to keep in memory and surveil on ethical principles. The realms of freedom and free will are strictly human, as only persons possess the will to interact with, promote, or oppose the good.
Instead, AI is called to digitize, measure, analyze the objective effects, and promote rightful human choices. In this way, it tends toward the true Good by supporting the coherence of the ethical system without ever substituting itself for human moral decision-making. This role of sentinel is aimed at defending human ontological dignity, warning against the incorrect use of free will by individuals, whose exercise remains their exclusive domain as human beings.
